Charlie Eastwood’s potential has been showcased over the past years in the competitive ranks of international karting and single seater racing. Having emerged as one of Europe’s stand-out talents at that level, Eastwood intends to build on that reputation graduating into sports car racing as the 2016/17 Porsche Carrera Cup GB scholar
Sports car endurance racing proving ground remains one of sports toughest competitive platforms but like many world class racers before him, Charlie’s racing pedigree bodes well having proved himself to be a benchmark for his rivals.
Crowned ‘World Champion’ at the 2012 Rotax World Finals, Eastwood’s major international karting title but his name on the map as a star of the future. The World Finals pitted him in his class against 72 of the world’s best emerging racers and he duly beat them all to become the youngest ever winner of the senior category aged just 17.
Further success followed in 2013 having been invited to compete in the prestigious Florida Winter Tour, Charlie winning several rounds on his way to being named Tour Champion. He followed that up by going on to lift the Rotax Euromax Challenge ‘European Champion’ title to add to his burgeoning reputation.
In 2014 Charlie’s career turned to Race cars as he competed in BRDC F4 with two podiums in his debut season. Early 2015 Charlie competed in the Toyota Racing series where he finished 2nd in the New Zealand Grand Prix, Only 1 of 2 Grand Prix’s outside Formula 1. Later in the year he competed part season in Formula Renault Eurocup.
At the end of 2015 a career highlight was achieved. Up against 36 top Drivers through a gruelling selection process, Charlie came out victorious as Porsche Carrera Cup GB scholarship winner for 2016/17. Currently leading Rookie championship and 3rd overall in Pro category in Carrera Cup GB
Charlie Eastwood has an accomplished resume to-date but he’s far from finished and the Belfast-base racer’s step up to sport cars looks set to be as exciting as his stellar karting career. Early this year Charlie achieved the prestigious accolade by becoming a BRDC Rising Star. The next chapter begins here and now!
Charlie achieved outstanding success in the Senior max Rotax class in past few seasons. He is the first person representing Ireland to win a World Championship Karting title. He qualified for the World finals with over 300 drivers from 60 nations, by finishing 2nd in the British Championships and competed in his class against the top 72 international drivers representing their countries – Entrants from as far afield as Australia, USA, Japan, China etc. He is the youngest ever winner of the senior category. Charlie became the European Champion in September 2013 by winning the Rotax Euromax challenge.
Moving on to car racing in 2014 Charlie competed in BRDC F4 with two podiums. In 2015 Charlie raced in the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand finishing 2nd in the coveted New Zealand Grand Prix. Only one of two Grand Prix’s outside Formula 1. Charlie also competed in Formula Renault Eurocup in 2015 doing a part season. Then at the end of 2015 switched his career interest and out of 36 high level drivers won the Porsche Carrera Cup GB scholarship for 2016/2017. Currently leading Rookie Championship and 3rd in Porsche Carrera Cup GB Pro category.
