Charlie Eastwood signs Aston Martin Racing factory contract
FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) driver Charlie Eastwood has become a works Aston Martin Racing driver having signed a multi-year contract with the British team.
Currently a title contender in the WEC GTE Am class, where he races an Aston Martin Vantage GTE with an AMR partner team TF Sport, Charlie’s continued success over the past two seasons was rewarded by the factory, which promotes the 24-year-old from an Aston Martin Junior to full works status.
Charlie’s new deal is the result of his talent and fierce ambition gelling through hard results and an unstoppable work ethic. It represents the next step up the ladder for the Belfast-born driver who is fast-becoming one of the most sought after drivers in International GT racing.
“It has been a lifetime goal to drive for Aston Martin Racing,” he said. “Since joining TF Sport for the 2018-19 WEC season, I’ve been pushing extremely hard to showcase what I can do on and off the track. This has resulted in race victories and podiums for the team.
“I am delighted to sign a factory contract with Aston Martin Racing, who have supported me throughout my endurance racing career, and I’m really excited that they have shown such faith in me, which of course I intend to repay with results on track.”
As well as enjoying success in WEC this season, Charlie won the 2019 Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup - Pro-Am, with Oman Racing with TF Sport. The Belfast-born driver also recorded victory at the Total 24 Hours of Spa and finished on the class podium in every Blancpain race.
Driving the Aston Martin Vantage GTE for the 2019-20 WEC season, Charlie has already recorded two victories in Fuji and Shanghai from the four rounds run so far.
